MORMON LINGO

A short guide to those fancy words we use often;

AARONIC PRIESTHOOD...the lesser priesthood with four specific offices; Deacon, Teacher, Priest and Bishop who is the President over the Aaronic Priesthood. This is the same Priesthood that Aaron the brother of Moses held in the Old Testament.

BAPTISM / BAPTIZE...in the Church we perform baptism after an individual has had six formal discussions taught by the full time missionaries. This is done by full immersion as Christ did when he was baptized by John the Baptist. It is the beginning of a long journey towards the Celestial Kingdom and not the final step.

CELESTIAL KINGDOM...is the place where Heavenly Father dwells. There are many requirements that must be fulfilled by each mortal on earth in order for them to enter this glory. There isn't just a heaven or hell, but many glories. (1 Cor. 40:40+) The Celestial Glory is the highest of the Glories.

ENDOWMENT...an ordinance had only in a Temple for each member preparing for the day they will enter the Celestial Kingdom. The ordinance is sacred and only worthy members are allowed to have their endowment.

MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD...the higher priesthood. This Priesthood alows a man the access to the powers of Heaven.

SEALING...families are forever and a family can be joined for time and all eternity through sacred ordinances in the temple thus reuniting the family after death.

The above is only a very basic reference to a few 'unusual' words used in this book. Please contact the full-time missionaries for more details about the Church and it's Doctrine. (See www.Mormon.org site for details).
