ABOUT THE AUTHOR

One day, one of the District Councilmen came up to meet me after completing a District training meeting and with a sincere look on his face said,

"I really feel that this book (referring to the History of the Saints in T&T book one) will really be appreciated after about 30 years."

I understood what he meant, like any artist who paints, he is more revered when he is dead and can paint no more. Not that the Councilmen thought I should be dead so that more people would be interested, but like anything else -- people take for granted what is around them.

We are the history of the Church here and now. In time to come many would have passed on, moved abroad or become unaware of the Church's roots here and then an appetite of excitment for local Church history will be awakened. Well, I certainly hope he is wrong. I really hope the Saints and people who have served here will take time to ponder and rejoice in the blessings of those who have worked that others may enjoy the blessings of the Gospel. Since Book One I have been working on furthering my academic studies with the pursuit of an Associate Degree in Hospitality Managament. Having been called to the District Presidency has enabled me to visit and be with the Saints throughout Trinidad. This allowed me easier access to the testimonials of those within this book as well as a broader view of the work of the Lord as a whole in this country and other parts of the globe.

To those who are unaware of the promised gifts obtainable though keeping temple covenants let me seriously voice with the strength of my inner soul to go to the temple, plan now, go quickly, make it a priority in your life and you will know that whatever sacrifice you made to get there was well worth it.

The temple has changed my way of thinking to being further form the 'natural man' and closer to enveloping Christ-like attributes and principles so that one day I will enter the Holy Temple and see Him who has given me grace and life - Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Christ! His Kingdom is on the Earth, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only Church with authority to act in His name and He personally directs His Church through a living prophet - what a miracle and blessing to be part of it.

Words are very primitive in describing the exhilarating feeling from seeing someone grow in the Gospel or the peace that comes as you are surrounded by the angels of the Most High. The highlight of which is an unconditional love of such magnitude that would cause the God of this universe to lay down his own life for those who wish to be His Children. Such love I hope to one day (It will most likely not happen until the next life) give to others.

I know fasting works. On my mission to England and Wales I've seen great miracles come to pass from submission to the spiritual will instead of the will of the flesh. We were counseled to only fast once a month but, so effective was fasting to us that we did it once a week. I've also fasted for two days with no food or water to test my self control. It was hard and I would not recommend it to others, the simple fast once a month is sufficient so long as it is done in all sincerity of heart. I know great faith will come to those who will be obedient to the commandments of our Heavely Father; Faith to heal, to build, to rebuild, to set ones' life in the right path and faith to move mountains. Be commited to your calling and you will be blessed in such ways as the Lord will know. Sometimes we may feel that we work very hard without any remuneration or praise from those whom we serve or those who have called us to serve. Indeed, we may feel like this;

[Top]

When I take a long time - I am slow
When my leader takes a long time - he's thorough
When I don't do it - I am less active
When my leader doesn't do it - He's very busy
When I do something without being told - I am not following direction
When my leader does the same - He's magnifying his call
When I please my leade r- I want a favour
When my leader pleases his leader - He's perfect
When I do good - My leader never remembers
When I do wrong - He never forgets

In our callings we serve the children of God and our Heavenly Father is ever grateful because we serve Him at the same time.. We are blessed immediately and become indebted to Him. So why not do our duty - magnify our calling without looking for imperfections in the leaders. Remember if you can only fault find in others then you become an enemy to the work of the Lord. Review Mosiah 4 and Hebrews 13:17 as a reference.

I'm grateful to my Lord, Jesus Christ, for the time and talent that He has given me to complete another sequel in the HISTORY OF THE SAINTS IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO. I would leave you with one last thought in preparation for our future Stake;

EVERY MORNING IN AFRICA, A GAZELLE WAKES UP.
IT KNOWS THAT IT MUST RUN FASTER THAN THE FASTEST LION OR IT WILL BE KILLED.

EVERY MORNING IN AFRICA, A LION WAKES UP.
IT KNOWS THAT IT MUST OUTRUN THE SLOWEST GAZELLE OR IT WILL STARVE TO DEATH.

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER YOU ARE A LION OR A GAZELLE: WHEN THE SUN COMES UP YOU HAD BETTER BE RUNNING !!!

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
